About the Role: We are looking for self-driven, well-organized, inquisitive individuals with a passion for shipping, technology and strong analytical skills to join our team in Athens for an internship of 6 months, with the possibility to extend for 18 more months (24 total). A successful internship can lead to a permanent position. With primary duties focused around data analysis, shipping operations and strategic projects, candidates need to be exceptionally courteous, positive, engaging, detail-oriented.
During this internship, you will have the opportunity to be exposed to and help with a wide variety of shipping, operations and analytics matters and be part of a team that, with data and tools, provides advanced solutions in the domain of maritime transportation.
What you will do in this role
- Participate and assist in data quality operations
- Analyze data and develop models related to the shipping market
- Support Chartering and Operations teams, helping them deliver great results
- Master the Signal Ocean Platform, provide feedback on the product team
- Contribute in strategic projects related to the growth of the maritime business as well as internal optimisation
- Develop the skills required to grow into operational, commercial and analytical positions
Requirements
What you bring to the team
- An Engineering / Computer Science, Shipping or Business (BSc or MSc) background from a top School
- Passion about shipping and technology
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Proactiveness, ability to make quick decisions with attention to detail
- Team spirit; caring about the business and appreciating collaboration with colleagues
- Ability to adapt and perform in diversified projects and tight timelines with the guide of senior team members
- Business understanding and problem-solving capabilities with strong analytical thinking. Able to analyze problems end-to-end and propose solutions with the guide of senior team members
- Good knowledge of analytical and presentation tools are welcome (e.g., MS excel, MS powerpoint, google sheets, google slides, PowerBI)
- Relevant experience in shipping is welcomed but not a prerequisite
- Programming experience is welcome
- Technical skills related to PowerBI, basic database setup and management will be a plus
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
