About Role: Our Chartering team is expanding! We are looking for a versatile Chartering Intern who is interested in pursuing a career in a newly established, dynamic and innovative shipping group.

The role will be based in Athens. The role will report directly to the Chartering Team Lead and will be gradually involved in negotiations and fixing activities for a growing tanker fleet.

What you will do in this role

  • Run and update TCE estimation scenarios based on inputs provided by Chartering team
  • Support with the KYC process of existing and prospective clients
  • Communicate with the Chartering Team for the various employment opportunities of each ship, agree on strategy and trade the ships.
  • Assist in negotiation of spot charters to achieve maximum income with resolute attention to the decision-making process
  • Discuss with Tanker Operator in detail about the type of cargoes and the merits of the intended voyage
  • Follow up with the Tanker Operations department, the Freight Collection and Disbursements
  • Master the Signal Ocean Platform, provide feedback on the product team
  • Help in delivering good chartering results

Requirements

What you bring to the team

  • BSc/MSc in Engineering, Mathematics, Shipping Management or in a related field
  • Relevant experience in tanker spot chartering at a charterer, an owner or a broker is welcomed but not a prerequisite
  • Excellent listening, communication and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and methodical skills; attention to detail
  • Team spirit; caring about the business and appreciating collaboration with colleagues
  • Proactiveness, ability to make quick decisions
  • Microsoft Office experience; very strong Excel skills
  • An excellent command of written and spoken English
