We’re a JavaScript shop (Node, Express, NestJS, React, GraphQL) and most of our colleagues are what’s known in the industry as the T-Shaped developers. They are well-versed in the backend or front-end and knowledgeable enough in the other areas to be able to get the job done. But it’s not a hard requirement from day 1 for you. It’s OK if you have experience only in backend or front-end development if you are open to learning and working on the other areas. About the Role:
We are seeking a Software Engineer based in Greece who will work remotely as a core member of the Hindawi Engineering team in Iasi, Romania to help develop Hindawi's flagship product, Phenom. This person must be passionate about software development, with an engineering mindset, solid programming fundamentals, and web application development experience in a scrum team using JavaScript libraries like Node, Express, NestJS, React, and GraphQL.
How you will make an impact:
- Designing and implementing Phenom components as well as cross-component parts (i.e. events, platform tooling)
- Assisting product teams with design ideas or technical suggestions.
- Participating in teams’ ceremonies.
- Continuously improving yourself, your team, technical processes, and practices.
- You’ll work in a Scrum team responsible for delivering one or more Phenom components (i.e. Review, Screening, Invoicing, Reporting, Syndication, Proofing, etc.). In Hindawi, we also try to have a community of practice (Software Development Guild) which consists of colleagues interested in sharing industry best practices, ways to solve interesting problems, etc.
Requirements
What we look for:
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks (Node, Express, NestJS, React, GraphQL)
- Experience working with TypeScript would be a huge plus but not mandatory.
- Prior experience with cloud technologies like AWS would be a huge plus, but not mandatory.
- No computer science degree mandates. That’s not what we’re looking for. We care about what you can do and how you do it, not about how you got here. A strong track record of conscientious, thoughtful work speaks volumes.
