Pollfish is an online market research survey platform where data driven brands bring market research in-house for faster and smarter decision making.
We have a proprietary network of 600M consumers which enables companies to connect with and understand real consumers worldwide in a fast, easy and cost-effective way.

Pollfish lives in the Cloud, and is deployed several times a day using Kubernetes. A reactive microservice architecture underpins the entire platform. The core application is written in Play (Scala), while the vast majority of the supporting services are using the proven Twitter stack, Finatra/Finagle as well as the Lightbend Akka stack.
All new front end projects are using a React/Redux/Sagas stack, while there is also an old JQuery project that we plan to migrate in the future. Module bundling is handled by webpack, allowing us to optimize, minimize and deploy our static assets using Docker without much hassle.
Data is constantly on the move at Pollfish. From Apache Kafka, to Postgres, to Apache Druid and Cassandra, to the data-lake. Distributed programming based on Apache Spark, and Apache Flink is leveraged to handle efficiently the immense amounts of data that Pollfish has to process daily. Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence models allow Pollfish to tackle fraud, and improve data quality.
Running a highly available platform comes with its operational challenges. Services need to be optimally tuned, elastic, load balanced and vigilantly monitored. Continuous integration and delivery processes using sophisticated pipelines undertake all repetitive tasks efficiently and reproducibly. At the same time all of our infrastructure needs to be reproducible and always consistent, so infrastructure as code is a principle we operate by.
Requirements
Candidates should be located in the European Time Zone
To be successful as a DevOps Engineer, you need to have:
- Extensive and deep knowledge of Linux administration and scripting.
- Exceptional understanding of networking.
- Experience building, monitoring, improving cloud based scalable production environments
- A drive to avoid patching but rather to automate, template, develop solutions at scale
Would be big pluses: hands-on experience with
- Configuration management and infrastructure automation solutions (such as Terraform, Ansible)
- A container orchestration framework (preferably Kubernetes)
- Logging, monitoring, tracing, alerting, profiling
- A programming ecosystem (e.g Java, GoLang, Python)
- Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery procedures and tools
Tech stack:
- Platform: GCP / Kubernetes / Istio
- Infrastructure as Code/GITOPS: Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Flux
- Observability: GCP Operation’s suite + some Kibana / Grafana / Influxdb / ElasticSearch
- Automation: Jenkins
- Datastores: PostgreSQL, Kafka, Cassandra, ElasticSearch, Redis, Druid
