As a result of our rapid growth, we are looking to extend our team with a Mid/Senior Data Scientist who has experience in modeling complex data and transforming them into products with tangible business value.
Role and Typical Tasks
You will be directly involved in all stages of a Data Science project, including the:
- Design, prototyping, productionisation, and continuous improvement of predictive Machine Learning algorithms that will be serving real-time output to the customer.
- Data wrangling of spatio-temporal data and testing different hypotheses.
- Evaluation of different modeling approaches and sharing clear findings with the team and the business.
- Driving innovation; picking out new opportunities for DS products and proposing improvements amp; optimisations to existing products.
- Review of literature in order to gain useful insights that can be directly applicable to in-the-wild DS products.
- Active collaboration with other data scientists, engineers and product managers.
Requirements
Must have
- 3+ years of industrial experience as a Data Scientist or ML engineer, having prototyped, evaluated, and deployed to production supervised/unsupervised ML models with proven business value.
- Experience in feature engineering and feature selection.
- PhD or MSc degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics or other quantitative fields amp; solid background in ML-related areas (modeling, linear algebra, statistics, optimisation etc.).
- Solid understanding of probability and statistical hypothesis testing (point/interval estimation).
- Strong Python programming skills including relevant libraries (pandas, sklearn, numpy, scipy, Keras, TensorFlow etc.).
- Familiarity with cloud services (Azure/AWS) and big data technologies and frameworks (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka etc.).
- Strong problem-solving and practitioner mindset; thinking up several ways to translate complex problems into simple but principled Data Science solutions and coming up with the right metrics to evaluate their business value.
- Excellent communication skills, strong team mentality and results-oriented attitude.
Nice to have
- Prior experience with spatiotemporal data will be considered a plus.
- Experience in modeling amp; evaluating multivariate time-series regression problems (decision tree, nearest-neighbor, RNN/LSTM, graph networks etc.).
- Maritime or logistics industry experience.
- Experience in SaaS companies and relevant business models.
