Job Description

Job purpose

Senior Copywriter (editorial) will play a pivotal role in shaping the narrative of our brand through compelling and engaging written content. The ideal candidate will have a strong editorial background, a passion for storytelling, and the ability to craft content that resonates with our target audience across various platforms.

Key responsibilities:

1. Content Development:

  • Execute the editorial content strategy as set by the Content Managers aligned with brand objectives and target audience preferences.
  • Create high-quality, long-form editorial content for various channels, including blogs, articles, and thought leadership pieces.
  • Brand Voice and Consistency:
  • Establish and maintain a consistent brand voice and tone across all written content.
  • Collaborate with the creative team to ensure alignment between written and visual elements, maintaining a cohesive brand image.

2. Thought Leadership:

  • Research industry trends, market insights, and competitor activities to inform and enhance our thought leadership content.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to develop content that positions the brand as an industry leader.

3. Editing and Proofreading:

  • Review and edit content to ensure clarity, coherence, and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to uphold high editorial standards and ensure error-free deliverables.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with designers, content managers, product marketeers and other team members to integrate written content seamlessly into overall marketing campaigns.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior copywriters, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
Minimum requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of proven experience as an editorial copywriter, preferably in an in-house creative or marketing team.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing editorial and thought leadership content.
  • Excellent research and interviewing skills.
  • Ability to distill complex information into compelling and accessible narratives.
  • Detail-oriented with strong editing and proofreading skills.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and content optimization.
  • Excellent command of the English Language (C2 level certification desired, LanguageCert C2 LTE or C2 IESOL certificate would be a plus). Extra languages will be considered as an asset
  • Excellent use of MS Office

Working on Home Office (HO) Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)

Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check (the results of which must be acceptable to PeopleCert and the HO) prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared.

If working on the SELT service in the UK, background checks will include:

  • A basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Right to Work in the UK check (including nationality, identity and place of residence)
  • HO security check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter Terrorist Check (CTC)
  • Financial background check
