ELPEDISON, with its two privately-owned power plants in Thisvi (Voiotia) and Thessaloniki, with a total installed capacity of 820 MW, uses natural gas as fuel and ensures a clean and continuous electricity flow, based on a highly environmentally-friendly power generation process.

We are currently looking for a Chemistry amp; HSE Officer in our Power Generation division, to be responsible for the monitoring of plants’ chemicals management and the follow up of environmental, health amp; safety regulations and legal framework.

What you will do:

  • Support both CCGT’s of the company, one located in Thessaloniki and one at Thisvi.
  • Follow up operational data regarding chemistry, environmental, health and safety issues on a daily basis.
  • Follow up usage of chemicals and gases.
  • Follow up the acceptance of use of new materials at the plants (COSHH related work).
  • Follow up the inspections of the HRSG-ST-BOP during outages.
  • Follow up and control Water Treatment Plant in cooperation with maintenance section.
  • Prepare the monthly reporting (e.g. CO2 emissions, chemical and gas usages, waste, etc.).
  • Prepare the data for environmental reporting as demanded by the authorities (CO2, Waste, EPTR, REACH, etc.).
  • Prepare the information sent to the authorities regarding any breach of environmental limits and regarding any problems with the monitoring equipment.
  • Cooperate and communicate with the company’s auditors regarding the CO2 emissions audits.
  • Introduce and perform modifications regarding chemistry and health amp; safety issues.
  • Follow up maintenance of equipment related to chemistry amp; environmental monitoring.
  • Manage contacts with external companies.
  • Conduct periodic on-site inspections to verify compliance with safety standards in the areas of work entrusted to contractors.
  • Conduct internal audits for ISO requirements.
  • Follow up relevant legislation changes in cooperation with the Health amp; Safety services vendor.
  • Travel to Thessaloniki/Thisvi/Athens whenever requested by your supervisor.
  • Undertake licenses renewals of the company on the field of your expertise.

  • What you will need in order to succeed:

  • A BSc or Msc in Chemical Engineering of Polytechnic University.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a generating unit and especially in water chemistry will be appreciated.
  • Knowledge of primary Hamp;S and environmental legislation.
  • Experience in implementation and maintenance of strict Quality and HSE protocols (esp. IS09001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.)
  • Member of TEE.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility for traveling also for prolonged periods.
