Job Description

ManpowerGroup Greece, on behalf of its client, a Spanish company that offers comprehensive global transport solutions, is seeking a Workplace Health, Safety and Environment Manager (WHSE Manager), for the company's project base at Volos.


The WHSE Manager is responsible for leading the safe and successful integration of Company’s Workplace Health, Safety and Environment management system. And develop action plans within the businesses.


Responsibilities:

  • Identify the legal requirements applicable to Workplace Health, Safety and the Environment. And ensure compliance with all the Legislative Requirements.
  • Implement a WHSE Model to achieve corporate guidelines and compliance with legal standards.
  • Promote, develop and manage corporate rail safety culture, including communication, education and monitor compliance programs.
  • Carry out risk assessments of the jobs and/or activities to be carried out by corporate personnel, with the objective of determining actions to eliminate or reduce the risks detected.
  • Carry out accident, incident and near-miss investigations to determine actions to prevent recurrence. Consolidate and generate reports in an ongoing and ad hoc basis.
  • Conduct periodic safety and environmental inspections. Establish an annual inspection calendar.
  • Maintain an updated Workplace Health, Safety, and Environment (WHSE) action plan.
  • Manage the needs for personal protective equipment. Deliver the necessary equipment to the workers according to their job position.
  • Carry out the coordination of business activities with external companies that come to the facilities to carry out work.
  • Lead Corporate scope for external and internal Audits and certifications when applicable.
  • Monitor WHSE plans of the company, procedures, practices and KPI’s in an ongoing basis.
  • Collaborate with WHSE roles within projects, in order to identify best practices in management of all aspects of Rail Safety Business Plans and other National strategies and Initiatives.
  • Manage the necessary WHSE training. Training on the risks of the position and specific training on e.g., working at heights, overhead cranes, etc. according to needs.
  • To provide a rail specific training (as required) and all New Employee amp; Corporate Inductions
  • Responsible for delivering WHSE compliance procedures and internal guidelines for Corporate employee.
  • Identify WHSE management improvements to achieve efficiencies, cost saving and simplify administrative task.
  • Attend daily/weekly planning meetings and liaising with internal/external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety (3 specializations)
  • Degree in Environmental Sciences or Master's degree in Environmental Studies
  • Lead Auditor Certification 45001 and 14001 (preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the role of WHSE Officer or Coordinator
  • English and Greek language mandatory (C1 level preferred)
  • Spanish (preferred)
  • Skilled in Rail Safety management techniques and tools.

    Skills:
    • Basic skills in quantitative and qualitative rail risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects.
    • Skill in document management processes including recording, monitoring and archiving and producing routine written communications.
    • Skill in data gathering and statistical and trend analysis.
    • Skill in conducting process and/or product rail safety audits and reviews.
    • Skill in identifying Rail Safety improvements to systems, processes and/or products.
    • Knowledge of Operational Safety Management Systems and relevant procedures.
    • In depth knowledge of Rail Safety legislative requirements and all Greek Standards relating to relevant scope of works.
    • Knowledge of Rail Safety legislation and statutes, and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation.
    • Knowledge of project risk management controls and actions.
    • Sound knowledge of auditing, rail safety inspections and compliance reporting procedures and processes.
    • Strong abilities to exercise authority effectively and foster an environment of mutual respect.
